Refresher Meeting for Returning Game Experienced AA and AAA Teen Umpires.
In the past, returning umpires were required to attend a meeting in March. There were four separate options from which to choose.  However, since 2015, more frequent in-season onfield observations and guidance were added and consequently the umps have come a long way and the value of the indoor course was minimal. Also we wanted to address the busy schedules of our returning teen umps. Therefore the March indoor classroom session was eliminated for 2016 and 2017.

New Umpire Course for Prospective AAA and AA Umpires.
As in the past, Prospective umpires will be trained on the field at a game this year.  This approach is used because the mechanics of umpiring are better understood and absorbed during an actual scrimmage or game with actual plays occurring, rather than in a classroom where plays must be described rather than experienced..  The training is done by adult patched umpires.  Going behind the plate is required, and safety is the primary course goal.  Balls & Strikes are secondary, but of course still important..
