LS Youth Baseball's second season creates an opportunity for players of all levels to experience playing
summer baseball in a competitive environment with their in-town friends in keeping with LS Youth
Baseball's Mission Statement. We offer a variety of options for players of all ages and skill
levels. The information below is intended to provide a brief overview of our summer offerings and key
dates as you plan your summer.

Bay State Baseball
This is a competitive summer team for committed players at advanced levels on the 60 foot diamond (with
the exception of Bay State A). On June 2, 2018, assessments will be held by independent evaluators at
Featherland Park for each grade. Our goal, within each division is to field a single team of 12 players
each. It is expected all players that will try out for a Bay State team and be eligible for a Little
League tournament team will attend 60% of their in-town spring games as stipulated by Little League
Rules. Any exceptions will be handled on case by case basis.

1. Bay State D - Current 3rd Graders
2. Bay State C - Current 4th Graders

Minuteman
Minuteman Baseball will run a Summer Minuteman League for 13 - 16 year olds who have previously played
at the Babe Ruth level. This league will be comprised of teams from the same towns as the Minuteman
Spring league. It will provide an opportunity for players to participate in a less competitive and more
informal level of play than the Lou Tompkins program.

The season will start with a practice or two early in the week of June 25th. Games will start June 28th and run through Friday, August 3rd. After the first week, the schedule consists entirely of games, all of which occur on weeknight evenings.

There are no tryouts for this team and selection will be based on player availability during the summer
and the order of receipt of the application forms.

Jimmy Fund League

Jimmy Fund is a league for those who are interested in playing competitive and fun summer baseball but do not want the commitment of Bay State.  There is no assessment and players are placed on balanced teams.

Teams play against other LS teams, and against teams from surrounding towns.

The season will start with a practice or two early in the week of June 25th. Games will start June 28th and run through Friday, August 3rd. After the first week, the schedule consists entirely of games, all of which occur on weeknight evenings.  The cost of this program is $175 for all divisions except Rookie, for which the fee is $50.

Unlike the LSYB spring season, the Minors and Majors divisions are inter-grade.  The younger players in a division can improve by playing against older, stronger players.  For the older players in a division, they have an opportunity to be the leaders on their team and set an example for their younger teammates.

The divisions and schedules are as follows:

Jimmy Fund Rookie – New this year is the Rookie League for current 1st graders.  There will be one game per week, generally on Wednesday nights, at 6:00.

Jimmy Fund Farm - Current 2nd Graders.  Games will be held Monday and Thursday nights.  All games will be at 5:30 or 6:00.

Jimmy Fund Minors - Current 3rd and 4th Graders.  Games will be held Tuesday, Thursday, and alternate Friday evenings.  Most games are at 5:30 or 6:00, but some Featherland games will be at 7:30 under the lights.

Jimmy Fund Majors - Current 5th and 6th Graders.  Games will be held Monday, Wednesday, and alternate Friday evenings.  Most games will be at 5:30 or 6:00.  The Majors division will play games on the 50/70 field.  This provides continuity for the players that have played on the 50/70 field in the spring and provides an introduction to the larger field for the 5th graders.

Players must be available for at least 60% of their team’s games to participate.  Players whose vacation or other plans prevent commitment at this level will be offered a spot on the Alternate Player List.  Registration for that list will open in late June.

Senior Babe

COACH – Mike Walsh, Assistants; Mike Nobile and Jim O’Connor
Fee $300
Players on the Senior Babe Ruth team must be 15-18 years old on May 1, 2018.  Players must have previously played on a high school level team.  The schedule is still to be determined but based on last year; games for this division will begin in early June (Date TBD) with several practices preceding the start of the season.  There will be 3 weekday games each week scheduled followed by playoffs going through the end of July.
