Summer Baseball Information

LS Youth Baseball's second season creates an opportunity for players of all levels to experience playing summer baseball in a competitive environment with their in-town friends in keeping with LS Youth Baseball's Mission Statement.  We offer a variety of options for players of all ages and skill levels. The information below is intended to provide a brief overview of our summer offerings and key dates as you plan your summer.

Please note that registrations for summer baseball will open later this spring.

Bay State Baseball

This is a competitive summer team for committed players at advanced levels on the 60 foot diamond (with the exception of Bay State A).  On June 4, 2017 assessments will be held by independent evaluators at Featherland Park for each grade.  Our goal every year, within each division is to field 2 teams (Red and White) of 12 players each.   It is expected all players that will tryout for a Bay State team and be eligible for a Little League tournament team will attend 60% of their in-town spring games as stipulated by Little League Rules.  Any exceptions will be handled on case by case basis.

1.    Bay State D - Current 3rd Graders

2.    Bay State C - Current 4th Graders

3.    Bay State B - Current 5th Graders - The Red Team in this grade will also be entered to play in the Little League U11 State Tournament.

4.    Bay State A 50/70 - Current 6th Graders and Age Eligible 7th Graders (Turned 13 on or after May 1, 2017).

Jimmy Fund

Jimmy Fund is a league for those who are interested in playing competitive baseball against local towns but does not want the commitment of Bay State.  There is no assessment and players are placed on balanced teams.

2.    Jimmy Fund Minors - Current 3rd and 4th Graders

3.    Jimmy Fund Majors - Current 5th, 6th and Age Eligible 7th Graders will play 50/70.

Minuteman Baseball will run a Summer Minuteman League for 12 - 16 year olds who have previously played at the Babe Ruth level.  This league will be comprised of teams from the same towns as the Minuteman Spring league.  It will provide an opportunity for players to participate in a less competitive and more informal level of play than the Lou Tompkins program.

Games will begin in mid-June with games being played on Monday through Thursday nights. The schedule is a 12 game schedule (2 games per week), with August playoffs. There are no tryouts for this team and selection will be based on player availability during the summer and the order of receipt of the application forms.

Spring 2017 Registration Now Open

It is time to register for our Spring 2017 season! All LS Youth Baseball registrations will be through this website, ww.sudburybaseball.com, using the Register Online button or clicking here to get started.

This is a great time to review your family registration information for both parents and children. This includes address changes, switching email accounts, etc. If your child has played before with LS Youth Baseball (or SLL/Babe Ruth), you should already have an account with our online system, just use your email to log in (any forgotten passwords can be emailed to you). Please use existing accounts as duplicate family information can cause confusion.

Our 1st registration deadline is January 9, 2017. After that a $25 late fee will be charged until our 2nd registration deadline on January 31, 2017. After that a $75 late fee will be charged with no guarantee that your son or daughter will be assigned to a team if rosters are full; s/he may be put on a waitlist.

The reason for the above deadlines and associated late fees is that in February the number of teams and team sizes at each level are set based on our registration totals. This ensures enough time to identify sponsors & managers and order uniforms for the start of the season. The season schedules are also built at this time based on the number of teams. Therefore, it is critical that we have the overall registration process completed by February. In prior years, we had too many late registrations that resulted in our February decisions for team numbers and sizes to be inefficient.

NOTE: T-ball and Pre-K registrations are still open with no late fees.

All program fees include a t-shirt and cap. Program costs for the Spring 2017 baseball season are as follows:

Pre-K Explorer: $75

Tball: $125

A1 and A2: $220

AA, AAA, and Majors: $275

Intermediate Division (50/70): $300

Minuteman: $325

LS Youth Baseball registration is grade-based. Please specify your child’s current grade correctly on his/her registration.

All Pre-K-3 players will play with their grade.

All 4th graders will be placed in AAA.

All 5th graders will be placed Majors.

All 6th and 7th graders will be placed in Intermediate Division (50/70 Diamond).

All 8th, 9th, and 10th graders will play in Minuteman.

Looking forward to seeing everyone out on the fields this spring!
